Photos by Pat Behles

All the birds have flown the coop. But they didn't fly very far:

Drake (aka Goose) Priden Joy's Nordic Ruddy Duck flew to Cheryl and Bette in Woodstock, IL

Phoenix (aka Swan) Priden Joy Lady Phoenix flew to Steve and Megan in Milwaukee, WI

Millie (aka Lark) Priden Joy MeadowLark Millie flew to Pat and Sharon in Milwaukee, WI

Addison (aka Macaw) Priden Joy Soaring on High flew to Christina in Lake Villa, IL

Gunner (aka Penguin) Priden Joy Rock Hopper flew to Joe and Amy in Twin Lakes, WI

Separate note: It is with the heaviest of heart that we said good bye to Drake on April 26th. He was diagnosed with a very rare bone disease that caused spurs to develop and mineralize along his spine. Cheryl did all that was humanly possible to find out what was wrong with the little guy and to help him with his pain. We cannot determine the cause but we know what it was. He was dearly loved by all: Cheryl, her Mom Bette and Drake's Daddy Dillon, Grammy Zippy, Auntie Kelly and second cousin Kelsy (rescue Weim).

Our tears flow and our hearts ache for all who knew him, now mourn him.

The little ones are getting BIGGER!!! They will be 5 weeks old on Tuesday and everybody but Penguin is over 5 pounds. Adorable Mr Penguin is about 1 pound or so behind everybody else, but that doesn't make him any less of a force to deal with!!! He can keep up with the bigger kids: eating, chasing, exploring, you name it!

They spent the cold and wintery weekend meeting new friends and playing with new things! You will see some of the new play toys in the pictures. Enjoy! They certainly did!!!!

The P&J baby birds are now 3 weeks old. Eyes and ears are open and little dogs have emerged. They are playing with each other (gnawing on any body part that comes close to their mouths!) and doing laps around the pool. They haven't yet really discovered the toys in the pool with them, but that will come soon. All puppies except Penguin have graduated to big dog collars. Penguin is still a bit too little for his new black collar. Swan is sporting a pink & red striped collar. Enjoy these pictures and think about coming to visit during Feb!!! We're teaching the puppies to give kisses, for Valentines Day!!!

The Priden Joy baby Birds are growing. Goose is more like Big Bird these days! Swan and Penguin are now well over 1 pound each. Lark and Macaw sing their sweet songs as they nurse ... morning noon and night! We are so pleased with Robyn for taking such good care of her brood

We are pleased to announce the birth of the P&J Birds out of Robyn and Dillon. In birth order we have:

  • Macaw (f) a real squaker!!!
  • Penguin (m) it's winter, so how fitting to have an Artic bird
  • Lark (f) a pretty little song bird
  • Swan (f) we have all hopes she will grow into a beautiful Swan
  • Goose (m) my favorite pilot in the movie Top Gun

Labor and delivery started late Tuesday evening so these little ones will have an easy birthday to remember: 1/08/08.

Momma and the baby-birds are all doing quite wonderfully! Pictures will be forth coming.

  • Orange  = Macaw
  • Black = Penguin
  • Lime = Lark
  • Pink = Swan
  • Green = Goose

We are thrilled with the news from the ultrasound: Robyn is expecting 5-6 puppies!!! They are all very active and very well formed!!!!! We visited the vet in Woodstock who helped us with the insemination. They have a very high resolution ultrasound and we were able to clearly see the puppies: the ribs, legs and head, their heart beats, even one puppy sucking his little paw!!!! They are about the size of a peanut in a shell right now at 5 weeks. How very cool!!!! We are on a cloud right knowing this time we will be expecting Robyn x Dillon puppies about Jan 10th. Dillon's owner Cheryl was with me for the ultrasound and we (Cheryl, me and the vet and the technicians) were giddy as school girls!!!!!

Robyn is doing great and hungry ALL THE TIME!!! We've started to supplement her meals with puppy food so she doesn't have to eat as much to get all the nutrients and energy she needs. She's still very active, we're limiting the amount of agility she is doing but she has the freedom to do what she feels she can do, running and playing etc.
